Narrative of what we did

NSN erected the sign structure, metal backing panels & vinyl sign face for a new 42′ high x 25′ wide billboard at the corner of Kent Ave & S 1st St in Williamsburg. Unique challenges on this project included provisions for temporary bracing for the “dogleg” steel pipe assembly that was installed first on a concrete setting pad & braced to the adjacent building concrete floor slab to stabilize it while concrete was poured and set around the pipe. NSN considered the eventual deflection of the signage cantilever when setting this pipe, which was set just out level so the deflection would pull the sign back into level when fully loaded. Our work included the complete roadway closures of Kent Ave & S 1st St in order to place our 95 ton crane needed to lift the largest piece, the main upright monopole, at ~48′ long and 32,000 lbs.
