Design build six-foot tall raceway-mounted illuminated letterset on the rooftop bulkhead.

Narrative of what we did

Designed, engineered, built and installed a set of large illuminated red letters to adorn the rooftop of this iconic NYC hotel.  Carefully transported and assembled a 54-foot wide double raceway to be fastened to stub outs on the rooftop bulkhead. Working from a scaffold, we expanded the stub outs by welding  1/2″ steel plates to which we bolted our raceway system. The letters were then mounted to this raceway system and energized through a dedicated circuit installed by our electricians. Installing structural elements on a residential rooftop required special permitting, extensive safety precautions and rigorous inspections. With the aid of landmark and air rights, these large red letters will proclaim the Edison’s status for its next hundred years.
