Narrative of what we did
Located directly across 8th Avenue, the EWALK Building (243 W 42nd St) is the sister project to 661 8th Ave. North Shore Neon reused the existing building stubs and prefabricated large truss sections with fold down catwalks between them to minimize the amount of infill steel. Similar to 661 8th Ave, there wasn’t interior space available to house the control room so North Shore built an exterior 12’x15’ room to keep the computer racks and spare parts in a conditioned space, tucked neatly behind the sign. There was sufficient electrical capacity already on the exterior of the building in a separate part of the building setback. North Shore installed approximately 400 linear feet of 4” galvanized pipe over to the new control room where we located switch gear that further distributed the electrical system out to local subpanels located throughout the catwalks.
